TARGET:  Grow Jobs Locally, Support Local Businesses

Outcomes…

  • Maintain funding for the Northern Arizona Center for Emerging Technologies.  Develop a business incubation graduation plan and policy that fits Flagstaff’s needs.
  • Revise the RFP, RFQ, and ROI bid processes at the City to benefit local businesses.
  • Implement the outcomes of the Economic Summit and Listening Tour.

TARGET:  Education and Research

Outcomes…

  • Identify, implement, and facilitate technology transfer opportunities between the University and business community.
  • Partner with local K-12 schools to effectively deliver physical education, recreation, and mentoring opportunities to children in school and after-school.

TARGET:  Attainable Housing

Outcomes…

  • Form a regional housing providers steering group to avoid duplication of efforts and provide a forum for collaboration.
  • Include a property maintenance ordinance as a part of the re-writing of the Land Development Code final policy adoption.

ISSUE 3:  Public Safety

TARGET:  Fire

Outcomes…

  • Achieve minimum national staffing standards for firefighter positions.
  • Maintain public outreach funding for fire prevention and maintain implementation of forest management programs.

TARGET:  Police

Outcomes…

  • Invest in administrative and emergency response support staff for officer safety, response, and retention.
  • Implement Serial Inebriation Summit outcomes.
  • Maintain staffing standards for patrol officer positions.

ISSUE 4:  Environment & Community

TARGET:  Invest in Renewable Energy & Environment

Outcomes…

  • Utilize Red Gap Ranch for Renewable Energy Project
  • Establish water adequacy standards for the City

TARGET:  Recreation & Open Space

Outcomes…

  • Parks and Recreation Master Plan Rewrite (first plan rewrite in over 10 years, a budgeted item)
  • Complete purchases for Open Space that Council authorized by the Mayor and Council in 2009 (the bond that voters approved years before).

TARGET: Social Equity, Most Vulnerable Populations, & Community

Outcomes…

  • Increase housing opportunities for homeless women and children
  • Retain social service safety net for non-profits and community partners
  • Establish Bike Way Finding Signs—Destination, distance, time, and route markers throughout Flagstaff for cyclists.  Establish local incentives and tax benefits for businesses that implement alternative transportation policies for their employees.
